The Opportunity
We are seeking a reliable Unwind/Rewind Operator to support press operations by feeding material, monitoring quality, assisting with machine setup, and maintaining safe, clean work areas. This role plays an important part in ensuring efficient production, product quality, and a strong safety-first culture. The Unwind/Rewind Operator works closely with press operators and assists across production, housekeeping, and basic maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
Safety
- Follow all safety procedures at all times.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately to the Team Leader or Department Manager.
- Actively support a safe work environment and the well-being of all employees.
Production
- Always prioritize safety over production.
- Complete all DMS checklists and required documentation accurately.
- Load roll stands and manage material flow at unwind/rewind stations.
- Maintain correct ink viscosity and clean ink stations where applicable (Cut 2).
- Operate the butt splicer as required.
- Inspect product for printing and cutting quality.
- Pack cartons onto pallets for WIP or into corrugated cases for finished goods.
- Apply proper tags to CNG pallets.
- Assist presspersons during machine make-ready and setup.
- Help locate corrugated cases as needed.
- Perform rework duties as assigned.
- Ensure product safety and quality; report concerns to Senior Management or the Quality Manager.
Maintenance
- Assist with machine maintenance activities when required.
Housekeeping
- Support housekeeping around machines and work areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned equipment and production areas.
Machinery Support
- Assist presspersons with preventative maintenance.
- Support troubleshooting of machinery issues as directed.
