The Opportunity:

  • The Plate Maker is responsible for stepping the artwork to the layout and operating the CTP Plate Setter for offset printing process.
  • Steps the artwork 1up to the die layout.
  • Verifies item, color separations, coating, substrate, and die are correct.
  • Adds/edits any layout marks needed for printing.
  • Creates press curves as needed for the presses.
  • Creates jobs in MeasureColor with correct colorbars and color targets.
  • Pulls correct drawdowns, proofs, and coating blankets for printing.
  • Troubleshoots printing prepress issues.
  • Operate the CTP unit.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation of all work performed during the platemaking process.
  • Maintains the artwork proofs and locations.
  • Maintains the coating blanket log and locations.
  • Verify plates are accurate to customer approved proof.
  • Verify repeat plates and blankets are accurate.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules, security procedures and instructions.
  • Perform all duties according to established safety policy, including wearing all required PPEs to perform duties.
  • This position will help keep department in specs within all 5S and SQF guidelines, and immediately report any food safety concerns to management.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the manager.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, if necessary.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
  • 2-year degree or 2 to 5 years of production experience in manufacturing environment in work related field.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Strong understanding of 4-color process.
  • Strong understanding of offset printing, color and dE.
  • Good communication skills
  • Proficiency mathematical ability including understanding of measurements.
  • Knowledgeable with hardware installation, maintenance, and networking experience.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be well organized.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to see/read a computer and work via telephone.
