The Job You Will Perform:
This position supports International Paper’s Columbus Modified Fiber Plant (CMF), located in Columbus, Mississippi. CMF is a vital part of International Paper’s Global Cellulose Fibers Business. We are a converting operation that produces specialty fibers used in the production of diapers, filtration products, and other absorbent personal care products.
This position reports to the CMF Plant Manager and provides administrative support to the Plant Manager, leadership team, and team members. Responsible for a wide variety of general administrative duties that include but are not limited to the following:
- Manage office operations, including scheduling, correspondence, mail coordination (FedEx, UPS, USPS), office supplies, and conference room bookings.
- Organize and coordinate facility functions such as recognition events, service awards, safety programs, training sessions, holiday events, customer visits, and visitor events, including catering and logistics.
- Maintain records related to safety, quality, payroll, training, disciplinary actions, and Company policies, ensuring accuracy and security of shared files, databases, and bulletin boards.
- Assist with training, recruiting, onboarding, employee records, payroll, benefits, and compliance with workplace policies.
- Act as a central point of contact for leadership and team members, ensuring smooth information flow.
The Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge You Will Bring:
Required:
- Minimum of 3 years of administrative support experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with confidential file management (i.e., payroll, human resources)
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Windows applications, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software programs and databases
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to accuracy and detail in both written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and effectively solve problems
- Action-oriented approach with the ability to adapt and learn quickly
- Proactive, self-directed, and capable of working independently while contributing to a team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, tact, and sound judgment
- Ability to surface issues and handle sensitive, confidential information professionally
Preferred:
- Formal training in Human Resources
- Experience with SAP is strongly desired
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws
- Understanding of HR best practices, employee relations, and compliance requirements
