StarCorr Sheets, a subsidiary of Schwarz Partners, currently has an exciting opportunity available for a Maintenance Supervisor at our Temple, TX facility! The Maintenance Supervisor helps to provide workforce productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating delays through scheduling and planning. The Maintenance Supervisor is also responsible for proper planning of PM’s and the efficient use of all manpower and other resources under his or her supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Manage and direct all aspects of maintenance work projects including quality control, duration, cost and thoroughness by staying in contact with the job process; addressing delays; ensuring good housekeeping; ensuring safety policy and procedures compliance; mitigating lost time; and scheduling and communicating with workers for quick and efficient transitions.
  • Manage, direct, and counsel mechanics in the performance of approved maintenance work by scheduling workers appropriately; providing orientation, training, and motivation to all maintenance personnel; and identifying training needs and coordinating skill and other training courses for new and existing team members.
  • Implement and follow work order and corrective work order practices and procedures to ensure that work is properly and completely performed, recorded, and charged.
  • Manage and direct the prompt assignment of mechanics to specific jobs which are appropriate to their skill level.
  • Prepare or review planned job package for completeness and correctness.
  • Determine whether all work has been completed, evaluate the quality of the work, identify opportunities for improvement for the next time a particular job is to be performed, and implement procedures and issue instructions for such improvement.
  • Determine whether overtime is required and make appropriate requests when needed.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Production Department.
  • Search for and suggest ways to eliminate maintenance work, lengthen service life between repairs, improve uptime, and improve procedures.
  • Seek ways to conserve energy.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including federal and/or state required environmental systems, OSHA Safety and Health rules, fire and electrical safety codes and manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading employees to improve; addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Successfully demonstrate all Class B qualifications.
  • Provide own tools necessary to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry, preferred. 


REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. 
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. 
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.

The individual must have a working knowledge of the following:

  • Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation. 
  • Product layouts and production specifications.
  • Product quality specifications.
  • Quality standards.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and/or other appropriate certification to work in certain areas or on certain equipment.
