Career Opportunity:
Smurfit Westrock Solvay Mill is seeking a Utilities Specialist for their Water Recycling Facility. The Utilities Technician supports the mill through operation and maintenance of the boiler system, water treatment facility and chiller systems.
Pay Range:
$40.30/hour - $46.05/hour
Starting rate is $40.30/hour; employees progress through pay range upon completion of training.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
- Perform tasks as assigned to support line team emergent needs
- Know and follow all Safety, Mill and ISO procedures
- Perform shutdown/startup tasks as assigned
- Attend and participate in HSG and Team Meetings
- Operate Industrial mobile equipment
- Perform and document mobile equipment inspections
- Writes work order requests as required
- Operate various computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Panther System, Etc.
- Conducts proper shift relief
- Maintain shift logs
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
What you need to succeed:
- Minimum high school diploma/GED and 4 years’ experience with operations and maintenance of wastewater treatment OR boilers and steam generating systems
- Must have safety conscious work habits
- Effective interpersonal and team skills
- Effective trouble-shooter with ability to plan, organize, and execute work
- Possess initiative; attention to detail; follow-through
- Possess demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to analyze complex operational problems in emergency situations
- Computer literate
- Capable of entering and working in a confined space
