Production Supervisor – Salinas, CA

The Opportunity:

Join Smurfit Westrock as a Production Supervisor with opportunities to advance and learn alongside accomplished leaders in the industry. As a Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operations of converting production. In this role you will communicate performance expectations to shift workers, ensure production targets and metrics are met to achieve production demands, supervise machine productivity and quality, and manage personnel daily. You will work in a collaborative work environment and coordinate production operations and maintain effective quality procedures and safety regulations. You will be trained, mentored, and developed to succeed and further your Smurfit Westrock career.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

  • Enforce plant safety regulations and encourage employees to become safety-conscious
  • Manage manufacturing employees to include performance reviews and disciplinary actions
  • Make recommendations to improve the safety, environmental and health of the entire facility
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the shift with constant emphasis on safety, quality, delivery and cost
  • Monitor production activities to eliminate waste and ensure adherence to production and shipping schedule
  • Work with other team members to control and improve efficiency, minimize labor overtime, downtime and repair expenses
  • Control load factors and workflow to ensure maximum use of available capacity and effective use of labor, tools and equipment

What you need to succeed:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with 3 to 4 years of related experience
  • Proven experience in operations, manufacturing, or supply chain
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in a corrugated packaging manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Proven track record of effective problem-solving
  • Ability to embrace continuous improvement
  • Strong collaboration and teaming skills with stakeholders across functions
  • Ability to coach and train employees
  • Ability to be an on-shift resource for troubleshooting problems in the process as well as maintenance issues
  • Ability to make independent, effective decisions
  • Possess ability to be a self-directed team player
  • Flexibility to work multiple shifts
  • Experience in leading continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, ability to learn new software applications
  • Proven successful track record in managing, motivating and building teams

The salary range for this position is $65,625.00 - $109,375.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The benefits for this role may include short-term bonus incentive, health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and a number of programs that provide for both paid and unpaid time away from work. Your actual pay will be based on your work location and other factors, such as your skills, experience, and education.
