Atlantic Packaging Products Ltd. has 6 US entities: York Container Pennsylvania, York Container Elgin, Skybox Packaging, Stand Fast Group, Blackhawk Corrugated, and Champion Container Corp; with locations in Illinois, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

 

York Container is seeking a Plant Controller for the Elgin, IL facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for finance and accounting using various systems, policies & procedures, and schedules to executive deliverables. This role will work closely with operations management and corporate leadership and will lead the financial analysis, budget, cost controls, and reporting for the facility.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide reliable, consistent, and timely information for Functional Managers and Senior Management
  • Ensure prompt and comprehensive responses to queries and assignments from Senior Management
  • Perform complete and accurate month end duties and reporting.
  • Participate in month-end closing process in conjunction with the central accounting team.
  • P&L Variance Analysis and Notes, focusing on the drivers of the business results.
  • Detailed Gross Profit analysis (Ex.: Sales, Materials, Labor, Overhead, Utility & Delivery Costs)
  • Product Costing calculation and analysis
  • Inventory valuation, monitoring, and control including coordination inventory counts.
  • Communicate operating and financial information and analyses to Sales, Plant & Logistics Managers.
  • Support Plant Management in driving for improved financial and operating results.
  • Use ERP and BI systems to provide regular and relevant information to decision-makers.
  • Budget and Forecast Preparation.
  • Actively participate in Plant meetings.
  • Conduct ad hoc operational studies to validate standard vs. actual data and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Identification of possible areas for process improvements and waste reduction
  • Other duties as required.

Job Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or Economics
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in accounting or financial analysis role. Manufacturing and cost accounting experience is strongly preferred.
  • 4 plus years in a leadership role managing people is strongly preferred.
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and computer systems are required with advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • Experience with ERP systems and Business Intelligence software (Oracle Baan).
  • Good organizational and team skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to work independently and with little supervision in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present themselves in a professional manner.
  • Ability to understand plant processes and correlate with performance improvements initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to various working environments.
  • High level of autonomy and sense of personal responsibility in achieving success.
  • Strong desire for expansion of knowledge and a willingness to learn.
  • CPA license preferred.
